I have a vein in my leg that over the years from standing and then having children became quite large, after having my baby recently I developed thrombosis in the vein which took 4 weeks to clear with lots of tablets. I would love to have this vein removed as I was told by another doctor that I would be prone to thrombosis after having it already and once the vein is there it can set in anytime. it does worry me and I would love any information regarding this.

As far as I know, this type of surgery is fairly common. Since you would be having it to protect your health instead of your procedure's being completely cosmetic, insurance should cover a good portion of the cost. Be sure to double check though. Insurance companies are notoriously fickle.
Check with your doctor about the medical issues. He should be able to give you the details about he procidure.

I should really look into it more, I have free medical so can have any procedure done free of cost, maybe I'll have a another chat with the doctor.

This sort of procedure can be done on the NHS.
I know that this is a fairly common procedure, and so is nothing for you to worry about.
If I were you I would make an appointmet with your doctor who can then refer you on to someone at your local hospital.

I showed my doctor and voiced my concerns, after having thrombosis he had seen the vein but with thrombosis the vein turn black so with it back to normal, he thinks there is no need to undergo surgery as he thinks its not too deep, not sure now what to do ?

your referring to varicose veins right? if it is really bothers and its more in the severe form you can have the surgery and if want some management with the lesser type hanging your legs in every prolong sitting and standing would help circulate the deposited blood in your lower extremities.

It would be best to be seen by a Vascular Surgeon regarding this

Most people don't realize that varicose veins are formed because of a defect in the way the vein is made initially, during our development..Once its stretched beyond where the valves can meet, the blood is free to flow backwards in the wrong direction..Just want to share guys!!

As you are telling about Varicose veins in your leg, it is common for people who are long standing, who are over weight, why because it has decrease in blood circulation causing thickening or hardening of the vein which bothers much, if it is reducible why going for surgeries, it may cause some more complications sometimes, go for surgery if it is irreducible to feel better.
To prevent from recurrency, why can't you where "TED STOCKINGS" which helps as antithrombolytic stockings, and the other is you have to elevate your lower limbs when in sitting and lying position, this helps in proper circulation of the blood, at last, best suggested is to consult a best vascular surgeon for better opinion.
